ACCORDING to FuelSave Australia, LPG can now be used together with diesel to improve the fuel consumption of diesel engines commonly used in transport and material handling applications.
The company is distributing a diesel/LPG fuel-saving system developed by Diesel Gas Australia. It claims this system can cut engine wear and reduce environment emissions.
The technology is already used in European heavy vehicle fleet operations. It is said to save 10 to 20% in fuel costs.
The system can be fitted on during routine maintenance. It introduces a small amount of LPG into the engine via its air intake system, improving the combustion process and ratchetting the burn rate up to as high as 98%.
The company claims it can be installed in diesel engines used in trucks, tractors, mining equipment, generators, cranes, and forklifts.
