Electric performance from emissions-free forklifts

FIRST Creek Wines has taken delivery of a fleet of seven Powerlift Nissan forklifts for its wine handling needs.

The seven TX Series 1.8t capacity three-wheel counterbalanced electric forklifts are each fitted with 4300mm three-stage wide view masts, side shifts and heavy duty traction batteries with single point watering systems.

The winemaker processes 3500t of grapes per season, making approximately 175,000 cases of wine. It also makes wines for more than 32 boutique labels and provides bottling services to more than 100 companies.

All this activity means the winery is always busy. According to the manager at the facility, the new forklifts will help boost the efficiency of the operation.

The company chose emissions-free electric forklifts because of the proximity of the work to grapes, wines and staff. The forklifts are used to load and unload large bins of grapes, and moving palletised loads of wine cases from storage to delivery trucks.

According to Powerlift Nissan, the forklifts have ergonomically designed controls in a user-friendly cab for increased productivity and extended working hours. It can operate for up to 1200 hours before servicing is required.

Travel speeds and heights can be limited for safety, and the compact design and a small turning circle allows operation in tight spaces.
